Bailey's Story - Mackensie reached out to us in frantic need of assistance. Her six-year-old Pitbull, Bailey, was extraordinarily ill. She had gone to a vet for help, but they had misdiagnosed the issue. It was determined that Bailey had been suffering from pyometra for months, and Bailey needed surgery and supportive care immediately. Unfortunately, Mackensie did not have the funds to get Bailey the help she needed.

Mackensie reached out to her local animal shelter who redirected her to The Inner Pup. She sent us a plea for assistance; her funds were exhausted and she had absolutely no means of getting Bailey the necessary care now that she knew what Bailey’s health issue truly was. Mackensie ended her message with the following: “[Bailey] is my best friend. I have epilepsy, I can’t drive, I don’t have any other friends, and I rarely leave the house at all. I’m not employed, I live at home with my mother, I’ve never bonded with an animal the way I have with Bailey and I’ll never forgive myself for not getting her fixed if she passes.”

While The Inner Pup does not handle emergencies, our vet assistance volunteer was so moved she started calling every clinic in town. She found a clinic that could get Bailey in the next day for an emergency spay. After a few days Bailey was able to safely return home to her family - where she belongs!
